Through the Pope John Paul II Award, young people will be enabled to take an active part in the life of their Church, in the life of their community and society and also become more aware of the teaching and role of the Catholic Church in the world.

The Diocese of Dromore participates in the John Paul II award programme and the Parishes of Dromara and Drumgooland support those candidates for the John Paul II award by providing the opportunity to volunteer in the following categories:


Parish Awareness

  • Reading at Mass
  • Altar Server
  • Eucharistic Minister
  • Member of choir/folk group
  • Church decoration
  • Collector
  • Composing prayers of the faithful
  • Preparing articles for the parish bulletin
  • Other activities as approved by the Pope John Paul II Award Committee


Social Awareness

  • Member of St. Vincent de Paul
  • Working in the youth club
  • Ongoing fundraising
  • Other activities as approved by the Pope John Paul II Award Committee
